1. Principles
Your personal data is collected, processed, and used exclusively in accordance with legal provisions and in good faith. Wherever possible, we design our business processes so that data protection requirements are already considered during the development of products and services, and so that personal data is anonymised in such a way that the data subject can no longer be identified if the agreed purpose is not thereby compromised. MEDION uses your personal data for the technical administration and further development of this website, for customer and user management and marketing, to inform you about our services and products, and for other precisely defined purposes.
2. Sources and Data Used
As part of our services, we process personal data that we have received directly from you. In addition, we process personal data that we lawfully obtain from publicly accessible sources or that is legitimately transmitted to us by other third parties, insofar as this data is necessary for the provision of the respective services and within the scope of the agreed purpose.
We store your data that relates to the use of our products or the provision of services, e.g., repairs, fault diagnostics, technical information, and assistance with general queries.
3. Purpose of Processing
MEDION processes personal data arising from the services offered via the website and which are generated in the course of contract conclusion and during our business relationships. Personal data is processed in particular for the following purposes:
Fulfilment of the parties’ legal and regulatory obligations
Performance of the contract
Protection of the parties’ overriding interests, in particular when asserting and defending legal claims
Fraud/misuse prevention
Consulting
Services in the field of consumer electronics
Fault diagnostics
Product trade
User tips, troubleshooting, technical questions (FAQ), knowledge base, video tutorials, glossary
Optimisation of service delivery

Customer service
Personal data is processed for the above purposes. The purposes of data processing are primarily determined by the specific product (e.g., physical or digital) and its uses, or by the assignment given to us (e.g., repair). In addition, MEDION may evaluate the personal data provided for marketing purposes.
Personal data that you provide to us when completing contact forms, by telephone, email, or via social media is treated confidentially. We use your data exclusively for the purpose of processing your enquiry. Our and your aligned (legitimate) interest in this data processing arises from the objective of answering your queries, resolving problems where applicable, and thereby maintaining and promoting your satisfaction as a customer or user of our website. The date and time of your participation are stored. Any personal information you provide during our survey responses is provided voluntarily. Please avoid mentioning names or similar in free-text fields that allow conclusions to be drawn about you or other persons.
4. Customer Account
To provide you with the greatest possible convenience when shopping, we offer permanent storage of your personal data in a password-protected MEDION customer account. After setting up this customer account, you do not need to re-enter your personal data. If you already have an account with MEDION, the master data stored there will be transferred to your MEDION customer account. You can also view and change certain data stored about you in your customer account at any time.
To set up a customer account, you must provide a self-selected password. Together with your email address, this is used to access your MEDION customer account. You provide us with the data on the basis of the contractual relationship between you and us. We receive the data necessary for the provision of the respective commissioned service, i.e., verification of login data (email address, password, and, if applicable, telephone number).
If you request deletion of the MEDION customer account, your data will be deleted accordingly. The processing and storage of data is otherwise the responsibility of the respective operator of the service used, who uses the data necessary to provide the commissioned service for that purpose and then archives it in accordance with statutory retention periods.
5. Customer Service
For the performance of the contract or other services, it may be necessary for MEDION to obtain relevant information from other third parties (e.g., delivery companies, repair agencies, third-party service providers, user tips).
In exceptional cases, data is processed on our behalf by processors in the field of customer service. Where required to process your enquiry, the data you provide may be shared with companies of MEDION.
It may also be necessary for us to pass extracts of your enquiry to contractual partners (e.g., suppliers for product-specific enquiries) to process your request. In these cases, the enquiry is anonymised in advance so that the third party cannot identify you.
6. Transfers of Data Abroad
Transfers of personal data to countries outside the UK are based, where applicable, on UK adequacy regulations issued by the UK Secretary of State or, where no adequacy regulation applies, on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, with additional measures where required.
MEDION has taken appropriate measures to ensure that relevant personal data is available in the UK at all times.
Personal data may be transferred to our companies in Germany that support us in opening customer accounts and/or in customer service.
7. Retention Periods
MEDION processes and stores your personal data for as long as is necessary to fulfil our contractual and legal obligations.
8. Your Data Subject Rights
MEDION can, upon request, provide you with information at any time about which personal data concerning you is processed. In addition, in certain cases you have a right to data portability and thus to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.
Under certain conditions, you may object to processing and request restriction of processing as well as the rectification and/or deletion of your personal data.
Furthermore, you have the right to lodge a complaint regarding the processing of your personal data with the UK supervisory authority: Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, United Kingdom. Website: https://ico.org.uk/
9. Automated Decision-Making and Profiling
We generally do not use fully automated decision-making to establish and conduct the business relationship. Should we use such procedures in individual cases, we will inform you separately where this is required by law.
We ensure that your rights are safeguarded and that a contact person is available to hear your point of view and to review the automated individual decision.
We sometimes process your data automatically with the aim of evaluating certain personal aspects (profiling). For example, we use profiling to provide you with targeted information about products and services, or we use analytical tools. These enable needs-based communication and advertising, including market and opinion research.
10. Onsite Targeting and Website Optimisation
On our website, information is collected and evaluated using cookies to optimise our websites and the advertisements displayed on them. This is intended, in particular, to ensure that advertising displayed on your devices is based solely on your actual or presumed interests derived from your previous usage behaviour.
Optimising our websites to avoid advertising that is not of interest to you is in both your and our interests.
Collection and evaluation are carried out exclusively on a pseudonymous basis and do not allow us to identify you directly. In particular, the information is not combined with your other personal data.
11. Collection of Personal Data When Visiting Our Website
When you use the website for information only, i.e., when you simply view it without registering or otherwise transmitting information to us, we collect only the personal data that your browser transmits to our server. When you view our website, we therefore collect the following data that is technically necessary for us to display our website to you and to ensure stability and security:
IP address
Date and time of the request
Time-zone difference to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
Content of the request (specific page)
Access status/HTTP status code
Amount of data transferred in each case
Website from which the request comes
Browser
Operating system and its interface
Language and version of the browser software
In addition to the data mentioned above, cookies are stored on your computer when you use our website. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your hard drive and assigned to the browser you use, and through which certain information flows to the party that sets the cookie (here, us). This serves, for example, the performance analysis of the website through cookies that help us improve our website by providing aggregate statistics on the number of visitors to a page, which areas of a page are most viewed, and the city or location of users. These may be installed by external analytics providers commissioned by us. These cookies do not personally identify you. Cookies cannot run programs or transmit viruses to your computer. They serve to make the internet offering more user-friendly and effective overall. MEDION uses the following types of cookies: transient cookies and persistent cookies.
Transient cookies are deleted automatically when you close the browser. These include, in particular, session cookies. These store a so-called session ID with which various requests from your browser can be assigned to the common session. This allows your computer to be recognised when you return to our website. Session cookies are deleted when you log out or close the browser.
Persistent cookies are deleted automatically after a specified duration, which may differ depending on the cookie. You can delete cookies at any time in your browser’s security settings.
You can configure your browser settings according to your wishes, e.g., to refuse third-party cookies or all cookies. Please note that you may not be able to use all functions of this website. Please also note that most browsers offer different options to protect your privacy. For example, you can allow first-party cookies but block third-party cookies or be notified each time a website wants to install a cookie. Please note that such deactivation of cookies prevents the setting of new cookies. However, it does not prevent previously set cookies from continuing to function on your device until you delete all cookies in your browser settings. Instructions for managing cookies in your browser are usually found under the help function of the browser or in the user manual of your smartphone or the stationary or mobile product with internet access that you use.
We also use cookies to identify you for subsequent visits if you have an account or a separate individual access to our services. Otherwise, you would have to log in again for each visit. Flash cookies used are not captured by your browser, but by your Flash plug-in. We also use so-called HTML5 storage objects, which are stored on your device. These objects store the required data independently of the browser you use and have no automatic expiry date. If you do not want Flash cookies to be processed, you must install a corresponding add-on, for example for Mozilla Firefox or the Adobe Flash-killer cookie for Google Chrome. You can prevent the use of HTML5 storage objects by using the private mode in your browser.

Overview and description of cookies we use
On this website, various data is measured by our partners named below to control advertising displays (= measurement data). Among other things, the frequencies of use of different subject areas related to the website are stored, and advertising-relevant target groups are identified according to sociodemographic characteristics and product interests. Only statistical patterns resulting from the use of online advertising and editorial content are processed. Information about your internet usage may also be used across websites to make a rough estimate of which advertising is most likely to interest you. You have the right to stop the recording of measurement data by our partners at any time by using the opt-out options listed below.

Mapp Digital/Webtrekk
We use the services of Mapp Digital c/o Webtrekk GmbH, Robert-Koch-Platz 4, 10115 Berlin, for analysis, optimisation, and the economic operation of our online offering.
Webtrekk is based in Germany. This company is therefore subject to German and European data protection law. It has been certified for data protection in the area of web controlling after its data processing was reviewed for data protection compliance and data security.
11.1 Cookies Set
We use Webtrekk GmbH’s services on our online offering in two ways:
Simple statistics: When visiting our website, information transmitted by your browser is collected and evaluated, e.g., page visited, browser information, operating system used, IP address (immediately anonymised and then deleted), time of access. No personal data is transmitted to Webtrekk.
Advanced statistics: If you consent to the use of cookies in our webshop, an ID is generated by Webtrekk and stored in cookies:
i. Session cookie identifies the session and is deleted at the end of the session.
ii. Long-term cookie contains the cookie ID assigned by Webtrekk (pseudonymous) and is deleted after 6 months.
If you have consented to the use of cookies in our webshop, pseudonymous usage profiles are created based on the ID generated by Webtrekk. This means the information collected during the website visit is analysed on a cookie-related and pseudonymous basis. It is not possible to combine it with data identifying the holder of the pseudonym (name, email address).
The purpose of using Webtrekk services in our webshop is to perform aggregated analyses in order to tailor the content of our websites more precisely to users’ needs and to optimise our offering.
11.2 Processing on Our Behalf
Webtrekk GmbH provides its services solely on our instructions, as contractually agreed.
11.3 Opt-out
If you have already consented to the use of cookies in our webshop and subsequently wish to unsubscribe from Webtrekk’s advanced statistics, you can do so here: Opt-Out.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service of Google Inc. (“Google”). Google uses cookies. The information generated by the cookie about users’ use of the online offering is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google will use this information on our behalf to evaluate users’ use of our online offering, to compile reports on activities within this online offering, and to provide us with other services related to the use of this online offering and internet usage. Pseudonymous user profiles may be created from the processed data.
We use Google Analytics only with IP anonymisation enabled. This means the user’s IP address is shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The IP address transmitted by the user’s browser is not merged with other Google data. Users can prevent the storage of cookies by setting their browser software accordingly; users can also prevent Google’s collection of the data generated by the cookie and related to their use of the online offering and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en. As an alternative to the browser plug-in, you can click this link to prevent future collection by Google Analytics on this website. An opt-out cookie will then be placed on your device. If you delete your cookies, you will need to click the link again.
For more information on Google’s use of data for advertising purposes, settings, and opt-out options, please see Google’s websites: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/partners (“How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services”), http://www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads (“Advertising”), http://www.google.com/settings/ads (“Control the information Google uses to show you ads”) and http://www.google.com/ads/preferences (“Make the ads you see more useful to you”).
Google Marketing Platform (DoubleClick Floodlight)
This website also uses Google’s Campaign Manager online marketing tool. Campaign Manager uses cookies to display ads relevant to users, to improve campaign performance reports, or to prevent a user from seeing the same ads more than once. Using a cookie ID, Google records which ads are displayed in which browser and can thus prevent them from being shown multiple times. Campaign Manager can also use cookie IDs to record so-called conversions related to ad requests, such as when a user views a Campaign Manager ad and later uses the same browser to visit the advertiser’s website and make a purchase. According to Google, Campaign Manager cookies do not contain personal information.
Due to the marketing tools used, your browser automatically establishes a direct connection to Google’s server. We have no influence on the scope and further use of the data collected by Google through the use of this tool and therefore inform you according to our level of knowledge: Through the integration of Campaign Manager, Google receives the information that you have accessed the relevant part of our internet presence or clicked on one of our ads. If you are registered with a Google service, Google can assign the visit to your account. Even if you are not registered with Google or are not logged in, the provider may still obtain and store your IP address.
The Campaign Manager (DoubleClick Floodlight) cookies we use also enable us to understand whether you perform certain actions on our website after you have viewed or clicked on one of our display/video ads on Google or on another platform via Campaign Manager (conversion tracking). Campaign Manager uses this cookie to understand which content you have interacted with on our websites in order to send you targeted advertising later.
You can prevent participation in this tracking process in various ways:
By adjusting your browser software accordingly; in particular, suppressing third-party cookies means you will not receive ads from third-party providers
By deactivating cookies for conversion tracking by setting your browser to block cookies from the domain googleadservices.com, https://www.google.com/settings/ads; this setting is deleted when you delete your cookies
By deactivating interest-based ads from providers participating in the “About Ads” self-regulatory campaign via http://www.aboutads.info/choices; this setting is deleted when you delete your cookies
By permanently deactivating tracking in your Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Google Chrome browsers under http://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin, through the appropriate cookie setting (see Section 11 above); please note that in this case you may not be able to use all functions of this offering in full
You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookies about your use of the websites and from processing this data by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/142293?hl=en under “Ad settings,” “Campaign Manager opt-out extension.”
Further information on the Google Marketing Platform is available at https://marketingplatform.google.com/about/ and on Google’s privacy generally at https://policies.google.com/privacy. Alternatively, you can visit the website of the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) at http://www.networkadvertising.org.
12. Privacy Information About Social Plug-ins
Our website currently does not use social plug-ins from social networks (Twitter, Facebook, etc.). Should this change in the future, social plug-ins will only begin transmitting data after you activate the buttons. Each time a page of our website equipped with such a plug-in is accessed, the plug-in causes the browser you use to load and display the visual representation of the plug-in from the social network’s server.
If you are registered there, the social network server is informed which specific page of our internet presence you are currently visiting, and other data such as your IP address is also transmitted. We have no influence on the scope of the data collected by the social network using this plug-in. Please consult the privacy notices of the respective social network, e.g., Facebook, Google, and Twitter.
13. Information About Apps
App stores / installation
MEDION apps are available via app platforms operated by third parties, so-called app stores (e.g., Google Play and Apple App Store).
Downloading therefore may require prior registration with the respective app store. MEDION has no influence over the processing of your data in connection with your registration and use of these app stores.
The operator of the respective app store is solely responsible in this respect. Please contact the respective app store operator directly if needed.
App permissions:
To provide you with the functionality of the apps, the apps must be able to access various functions and data of your mobile device. It is technically necessary that you grant selected access permissions to the apps. For certain operating systems, this also includes the Bluetooth function. Otherwise, for technical reasons, the apps cannot be used.
Before first use, we explicitly draw your attention to the requested access permissions. Most often, these permissions include:
Location:
This permission is required to determine your current location for location-based services. Depending on what you have enabled, your smartphone may use your GPS data, Wi-Fi identifiers, and/or Bluetooth to determine your location.
Address book:
This permission supports the selection of contacts to be informed by the user and allows searching and selecting the relevant persons in the contact data.
To enable this, the apps require the “Contacts” permission to access contact data.
Wi-Fi connection information:
This permission requires access to Wi-Fi status to automatically inform the user whether an internet connection exists and to advise switching to “offline” control. If the internet connection is not established or cannot be established, it is necessary to query the network status and search for Wi-Fi connections/home networks.
Push notifications:
Push notifications are messages sent by the apps to your device and displayed there with priority.
Our apps use push notifications by default if the user has consented during app installation or first use.
Receipt of push notifications can be deactivated at any time in the device or app settings.
User behaviour:
Within the framework of legal provisions, we, or companies commissioned by us, create usage profiles under a pseudonym.
These may be evaluated for advertising and market research or to tailor the apps to demand.
A direct conclusion about the user is not possible. The profile data is not linked with further information about the user.
Log data:
This permission enables the automatic storage of log data, such as the information your browser sends when visiting a website, or that your mobile app sends when you use it.
This log data may include your IP address, the address of the websites visited, browser type and settings, the date and time of your request, and cookies.
Device information:
In addition to log data, MEDION may also collect information about the device on which the apps are used.
This includes device type, operating system used, device settings, unique device identifiers, and crash data. Whether some or all of this information is collected depends on the device type and the associated settings. This enables error messages and system crashes to be analysed to improve future operation. Personal data is not required for this and is not collected.
Social media:
If you connect to our apps via third-party social media pages (such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Google), you agree to the permissions stored there under your personal account. MEDION does not gain access to the personal data you have stored there.
14. Controller
The company responsible for the data collection and processing described here is:
MEDION AG (hereinafter referred to as "MEDION"), with its registered office at Am Zehnthof 77, 45307 Essen, or its branch of MEDION Electronics LTD, with its registered office at 120 Faraday Park, Faraday Road, Swindon, Wiltshire, SN3 5JF
